Vladislav Hristov




Vladislav Hristov was born in 1976 in the Bulgarian town Shumen. He has numerous publications in a wide range of literary periodicals as well as two published books: Photos of Children (short prosaic works, 2010) and Enso (poems, 2012, nominated for the Ivan Nikolov Prize), Fi (poems, 2013). He is a member of the international organization The Haiku Foundation and a winner of first prizes from the following competitions: the competition of LiterNet & eRunsMagazine (2007) for short prosaic works; the third national competition for a haiku on a free topic in 2010 and the international competition Cherry Blossom (2011). For three consecutive years he is in the ranking of the 100 most creative haiku writers in Europe. His haiku have been published in the editions of the American haiku association Frogpond, the world haiku club World Haiku Review as well as in: Simply Haiku, Whirligig, Sketchbook, The Heron’s Nest, Мodern Haiku, Notes from the Gean, Lynx, Naiku Heute, Asahi Haikuist Network, The Mainichi Daily News, Granta, among others. Works by Vladislav Hristov have been translated to: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Arabic and Hungarian. He is also an organizer of many initiatives for the popularization of haiku in Bulgaria as well as of the charity project Rice Fields aimed at supporting the victims of the earthquake in Japan in March 2011.
