Horizon-a
(Mala Galerija, 23.04.-25.05.2009)

Maja Čankulovska-Mihajlovska

The project Horizon-a by Goce Nanevski reflects the dominant thematic interests of this artist in exploring the phenomena such as: time, space, motion and energy …

Focusing his attention to the surrounding nature, Nanevski touches upon the problems of the duality of things (stillness-motion, persistence-changes) … by producing subtle representations of endless horizontal – in this case – water expanses.

Horizon-a is a narrative about the inexistent, imagined line which separates the earth from the skies … while, at the same time, it is a poetic intimation of the horizon, rendered in rhythmically multiplied series hinting at endlessness…

In this display of the artist we are experiencing the photography, not as principal vehicle of the visual expression but, rather as means to explore the conditions and goals which may, in a sense, be defined as continuity. The vision behind these melancholic landscapes represents a lyrical anticipation of the horizon … the horizon which – in the included short author's video – dives and disappears in the deeps.
